Klein's suite of integrated port operations management applications is a true enterprise resource planning system allowing port managers to maximize productivity and make decisions with the most timely and accurate operational information possible.
The following is a high level overview of KleinPort’s main functions:

  User Configurable Interface
KleinPort allows you to select the specific data you want to display and arranges the data on screen the way you want to see it. The appropriate information is always quickly available at your fingertips. After all, having the right data available to perform a specific job function is vital to the value of any operations management system.

  Notice of Arrival (NOA) Processing
KleinPort records planned vessel activities through the capture of NOA data via the Web or through a standard Windows client. Authorized customers input NOA data directly to a secure website. All data is then validated against pre-configured systems lists where specific business rules can be applied. The status of customer’s vessels is then communicated via the Web interface.
Your port will benefit from reduced data entry activities and improved communications with customers. Direct input into the central system is fast and all data is verified at the time of input. Mistakes are reduced and NOA processing time is improved.

  Vessel Tracking and Conflict Identification
A vessel visiting your port is easily tracked through the use of a number of Status settings. You will always be aware of the next step of the vessel in your port. Common vessel statuses used are Planned, Confirmed, Active, At Berth and Completed. KleinPort’s sophisticated Conflict Identification System warns users of potential issues such as multiple bookings to the same berth, draft violations, channel conflicts, and berth size restrictions. Conflicts are checked each time a visit detail changes and the system flags all affected movements for easy reference. Eliminating conflicts as early as possible makes your port operations smoother and more efficient.

  Berthing Tool
KleinPort has a number of tools to assist in resolving conflicts. The Berthing Tool provides you with a graphical view of the vessels and berth layout. This gives you the ability to quickly resolve multiple bookings or adjacent berths by letting you re-position the vessels at specific pier marks. Result: Your operation’s flow is improved and your customers are better served.

  Cargo Manifest Input
Capturing accurate and comprehensive cargo data is a major challenge for ports and the associated charges represent a significant revenue stream. KleinPort has the capability to electronically input cargo manifests in a variety of formats. All imported data is validated and then converted to your internal codes to avoid possible reporting errors or omissions. The Manifest Editor is used for manual entry of manifest data input and editing of electronically input data. In either case, all data entry is expedited and validated against drop down selections from predefined lists. KleinPort provides you with the fastest and most accurate recording of cargo data in the marketplace today.

  Service Planning and Tracking
Whatever the service, KleinPort has the capability of recording the relevant details for planning and billing purposes. Default services can be defined for specific berths and vessels ensuring that all services are provided and billed. An accurate capture of services provided by the port ensures you will earn the maximum revenue possible.

  Integrated Invoicing
KleinPort’s robust billing module can be configured to calculate a wide variety of tariffs such as dockage, wharfage, water, electricity, equipment usage, delay penalties and manpower time. Tariff calculations can be based on almost any available parameter attached to cargo, a vessel, and its visit. It is seamlessly integrated with all the operational components of KleinPort. Tariffs are easily added and modified and the system can handle complex tariffs with multiple parameters. Customer specific discounts, based upon either a flat-rate or volume-based, are factored into the final invoice. If cargo figures need to be changed after an invoice has gone out, you simply change the original cargo manifest and an adjustment is automatically created on an adjusted invoice. Straight dollar amount adjustments are also supported. The Billing Module can interface with third party accounts receivable systems or the optional KleinPort Accounts Receivable Module can be used. Invoicing is much easier and more accurate with the use of KleinPort.

  Management Reporting
The production of management reports has never been easier. KleinPort supports a number of fixed reports such as vessels in port, berth utilization, and a traffic report. Powerful query capabilities coupled with a graphical reporting tool facilitates the creation of cargo and revenue statistical reports in short order. Standard queries of the database can be quickly printed or exported to a variety of file types, including Excel. KleinPort also supports the use of third party tools such as Crystal Reports. All of the data stored in KleinPort is now available to produce comprehensive management reports which enable you to thoroughly understand all aspects of your port.
